Halloween Topiary

I love love love this time of year! Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas! One fantastic holiday right after the other. Granted, they came way too quickly this year. We barely had time to enjoy Summer before Fall started. Still, Fall is here, and I am ready to enjoy all that it has to offer (except maybe the wind, let's do without that, shall we?)

It all started with a little Halloween ramekin that my mom found at Michael's. I knew I didn't want to use the ramekin for candy, so instead it became the base for this "spooky" pumpkin topiary.

Also, I am always looking for an excuse to crochet a doily. I love the intricacy of doilies. What better time than Halloween for a beautifully creepy spiderweb doily?

Alternative Storage Options

One of my possibly more unusual interests is organization. I happen to believe that life is easier when everything has a place, especially in crafting. I was flipping through a Mary Maxim magazine the other day when I saw this awesome idea of using a closet organizer for yarn storage. However, they were asking $19.99 for one of these! Just because they were using it to store yarn! I did a lot of searching and browsing, but it was my awesome and sweet husband who came home with these two closet organizers for a grand total of $4.00. Nice.

Some women are flattered when their husbands bring them roses or chocolates. Not me. I am loving my $2.00 closet organizers. Okay, so this isn't all of my yarn, but it's a really good start!!! I guess I'll just have to wait for Valentine's Day for another special treat!!!

Face cloth/ scrubbies

These facial cloths and matching scrubbies are so soft. I love that they are reusable- just toss them in the wash. Sometimes you just have to do something nice for yourself. They are perfect for stocking stuffers or to throw in a "Pamper Yourself" gift basket.

I couldn't pass up making some stars in patriotic colors.

Flower Cuff Bracelet

I am not typically one to wear bracelets. I have always had skinny wrists and most bracelets just sit on them funny. More than anything, however, most of them you can't put on without help.

That's why I love these crochet cuff style bracelets.

I know I have posted some like this before, but I have updated them with the addition of a button rather than the elastic I had previously used. I was worried that they would still be difficult to put on, but they aren't at all. Because of the button they actually fit better. The fact that they are crocheted means that they are soft and stretchy. They look great with a casual outfit or something dressier.

Clip Holder Frame

I tend to start thinking about Christmas pretty early in the year (like July). When I stumbled across the idea for a Clip Holder Frame, I couldn't wait to get started and make a few of these for Christmas.

I don't know about you, but I am all about function. These awesome frames not only look nice and can be made to match any little girls' room or bathroom, they are fully functional for something that nearly all girls need anyway! A place to store all of those adorable hair clips we give them! Of course, they may need more than one frame...

I am only getting started! I can't wait to make more!

Hair Accessories

I love that there is such a wide variety of options for hair accessories right now. I have been getting behind on posting lately, so here are a few things that I have been working on.
Last Christmas I made this lacy headband. It ties so that it can fit anyone.

I had been crocheting cuff style bracelets and I remembered that headband. Instead of a bracelet, I decided to keep going and make it into a headband. So pretty.

I think the little clips are my favorite to make. They are so fun, and you don't just have to wear them in your hair. Clip them any where, on your sweater, your purse, even your shoes!

Just in time for winter, these fantastic Earwarmer Headbands. So much better than earmuffs, don't you think?

Anytime Crochet Wreath

You may remember a previous post with a summery crochet wreath that I made for my door. It was actually the second wreath that I had made. When I showed my mom the original pattern, she liked it so much that I just had to make one for her. Since she loves shades of green, I thought this wreath would be perfect for her! And it's great for anytime of the year!
