Beaded Easter Eggs

Easter has given me an opportunity to do lots (and lots, and LOTS) of fun projects. This project is extremely simple and my niece (5) and nephew (3) had SO much fun doing it with me. It's so easy that you just can't go wrong.

We decorated simple plastic Easter eggs to hang on my Easter tree. Even if you don't have an Easter Tree, these eggs could be hung anywhere- in windows, from picture frames.... anywhere really.

For this project you will need:

~Plastic Easter eggs (with holes in at least one end)

~Beads of varying shapes, sizes, and colors

~wire ornament hooks (I buy them after Christmas and keep them in my craft supplies to use year round)

~ a rubber band (a wide one from broccoli or asparagus works great) cut into small squares.

~ needle nose pliers

Step One-

(for parents) Using the pliers (or your fingers if you're not a wimp), straighten one end of the wire ornament hooks and curl the other end.

Step Two-

Open the Easter egg and put the ornament hook through the hole leaving the curled end on the inside of the egg to hold it inside. Close the egg.

Step Three-

Put beads on straightened end of ornament hook. (We also used some tiny daisies. The kids loved them and they really added to the egg.) The picture doesn't show this part, but thread a square of rubber band onto the top of the beads (as if it were a bead. You may need to poke a hole in it with a needle first). This will prevent the beads from coming off the hook. Using the pliers or your finger, bend the top of the ornament hook so that it can hang.

I chose to leave my eggs plain due to the busy-ness of my tree, but you could easily decorate the eggs themselves with glitter, stickers, paint, etc. This is truly an easy project. I still can't believe how much fun the kids had with this one.
